    Description

U.S. Army Nurse Corps, Major Frances H. Dolan Paper Lot - 1920's to 1960's
This a large paper / document lot all pertaining to Major Frances Helen Dolan, Army Nurse Corps, USAR.  Dolan served as a civilian and military nurse throughout her career and this paper lot reflects some of that career via orders, documents, certificates and other misc. paper items for Dolan.  Dolan did serve as Mamie Eisenhower's nurse for a period of time as we have in the past had and sold items documenting this (these items are no longer available and this is the last of the Dolan documents we have to sell).  All of the paper items and docs. have wear, fading and blemishing throughout.  Some have small tears, creasing and folds within the pages.  Some have been marked by whom appears to have been Dolan.  Not all were able to be photographed (other than the 1st photo) as the lot consists of over 75+ pages.  Some of the items in the lot are:
23 Apr. 1926 Letter from the City of Rochester's Health Bureau appointing Dolan as the Health Nurse in the Health Bureau.  The top right corner and bottom left corner of this doc. has some damage / mouse chewing.
21 Jan 1942 Letter from the Hamilton School No. 31, Rochester NY - Informing the reader that Miss Frances Dolan is leaving as the school nurse and joining the United States Army.
19 Aug. 1947 Doc. granting Dolan permission to visit General Linden (Brigadier General Henning Linden) in Berchtesgaden Germany.  Part of this document is torn and will need to be repaired.  Has some significant wear and damage along all borders.
28 Oct. 1947 Officer's Clearance Certificate for Dolan - HQ Constabulary School Squadron APO 61 US Army.  Signed by 14 individuals stating that Dolan has "settled all accounts" with the school.  Signed on the back by Colonel Buechler.
11 Nov. 1947 Leave Orders for Dolan - Orders allowing Dolan to leave her station at 97th General Hospital, APO 757 to visit Italy & France for 15 days.
8 Dec. 1947 Leave Orders for Dolan - Orders allowing Dolan to leave her station at 97th General Hospital, APO 757 to visit Stuttgart and Nurnberg, Germany.
27 Mar. 1947 Questionnaire Doc. detailing Dolan's military service to include her promotion dates, Duty Assignments up to 1948 and other personal details regarding Dolan.
14 Apr. 1950 Certificate of Appointment to rank of Major for France Helen Dolan - The bottom left corner of this certificate is torn off (see pictures).
29 Dec. 1952 Certificate (heavily worn, creased and folded) appointing Dolan as a Reserve Commissioned Officer in the Officers Reserve Corps.
2 Jan 1957 Lesson Plan for Dolan as the instructor at the 817th Evac Hospital in Rochester, NY.  Lesson plan appears to be in regards to the history of the military hospital.
14 Jan 1959 Document & Certificate for Major Frances Dolan, transferred into the Retired Reserve.  Issues and appears to be signed by Major General Raymond E. Bell.
Also includes other various orders for leave while stationed overseas, other orders for transfer from duty stations, clothing allotments, docs. pertaining to promotion, letters from the City of Rochester regarding her positions as school nurse and much more.
