The 43rd Infantry Regiment organized a "bataillon de marche" which arrived in Indochina 1 February 1947, providing route security in Haiphong, Hanoi-Hai Duong, Cobi, and the Red River.  This particular version of the 43rd RI badge with all blue inscriptions was made during that period.  Reference:  Insignes de L'Armée Française L'Indochine, Tome I, by Christian Blondeau, Infantrie planche (plate) 5, no. 9.
Hallmarked Drago Paris H109, smooth back.  The attachment pin is very small, has been reglued, and might be a replacement (attache recollé, non-original?).  Genuine, not a restrike.
