CALIFORNIA ARTIST LUCILE BROKAW (d.) TEXTILE FIBER ART, MID CENTURY MODERN 1968

Description

This is a very rare mid century modern fiber art offering by California artist, Lucile Brokaw (1915-1984). She called this type of fiber art: cousage. It measures 24 x 36 inches. On verso it is titled "Shee Year of the Rat" and signed by the artist. The work is associated with the Chinese zodiac. Also on verso is its prestigous gallery label from Adele Bednarz Galleries in Los Angeles and a paper sticker with title and year 1968. Her work also was sold at the Esther Robles Gallery in Los Angeles. Lucile Brokaw's work has been at the Museum of Modern Art in New York; Whitney Museum of American Art; and also at the Smithsonian.
